Hot Chocolate Matcha
Ingredients
- 2 cups milk (dairy or plant-based) can add cream/coconut cream.
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 1-2 tablespoons sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1-2 teaspoons matcha green tea powder
- A pinch of salt
- Optional toppings: whipped cream, marshmallows, a sprinkle of matcha powder
Instructions
- Heat the Milk: In a small saucepan, gently heat the milk over medium heat until it’s warm but not boiling.
- Mix Hot Chocolate and Sugar: In a small bowl, mix the cocoa powder and sugar together. This helps prevent lumps in the hot chocolate.
- Combine Ingredients: Add the hot chocolate and sugar mixture to the warm milk, stirring continuously until fully dissolved.
- Add Matcha: Sift the matcha powder into the saucepan to avoid lumps. Whisk vigorously to ensure the matcha is well incorporated into the mixture.
- Simmer: Let the mixture simmer for a few minutes on low heat, but do not let it boil. Stir occasionally.
- Taste and Adjust: Taste the hot chocolate and adjust the sweetness or matcha to your liking. If it’s too thick, you can add a bit more milk.
- Serve: Pour the matcha hot chocolate into cups. If desired, top with whipped cream, marshmallows, or a sprinkle of matcha powder.
- Enjoy: Serve hot and enjoy your matcha hot chocolate!
